Will I get training?
Yes, and everybody gets an induction whatever the role. Nobody is dropped into a job here and left to work it out.
- •A short walk through the club's photo consent rules, which is the only part that really matters
- •Access to the club's content pipeline, which turns your two sentences into a newsletter item, a website story and a social post without you writing four versions
What you would do
- Take photos and short videos at training and matches you are at anyway
- Write a couple of sentences about how it went. "Tigers held on for a 2-2 in the rain, Maya scoring her first for the club" is genuinely enough
- Send it on. The comms team turns it into the newsletter, the website and social
- Get a team photo done by the end of September
- Keep an eye on consent, and never post a child publicly whose family has not agreed
What the club gives you
- Free tea or coffee for the team at your first home match, which is a small thing and people like it
- Safeguarding, free
- A season archive of your team that the children will still be looking at in ten years
What is required
Safeguarding Children in Football
The FA's online course. Free, done at home, and it needs renewing every three years.
Takes about three hours, at your own pace.
What is not required
- No DBS needed. The role involves no unsupervised access to children.
- You do not need to be a writer or a photographer. You need to be the parent who notices the celebrations.
What happens after you click

- 2Our Volunteer Coordinator gets in touch, usually within a couple of days.
- 3We start your DBS straight away, because it is the slow part.
- 4You do the safeguarding course at home, in your own time.
- 5You start. Alongside someone experienced until you would rather not be.
