Disability football
The Warriors
Our adult disability team train every Sunday evening at Phil and Jim, coached by Sarah Griffiths. They play, they train, they travel to tournaments, and they are as much a Summertown Stars team as any side that runs out on a Saturday morning.
The squad is full at the moment, which is a good problem and not a permanent one. If you or somebody in your family wants to play, tell us now and you go on the list. We would far rather know how many people are waiting than guess.

Girls and women
Girls' teams at every age, and two adult sides
Girls play from our youngest age groups right through to the Ladies. Where there is not yet a girls' team at an age group, there is a development squad building one.

Nobody is priced out
If subs are difficult, one email to the Treasurer settles it. Your coach is never told, and it makes no difference to selection, kit, or anything else.

Every player plays
Equal time on the pitch. Every player who turns up gets a game, and the minutes are shared evenly across the squad rather than handed to whoever is best that morning. A coach varies it only in the player’s own interest, and will tell you why.

Phoenix are our Under 8s, coached by Vincent Guffens. You'll find them training on Wednesday evenings at Phil and Jim and playing their OYFL football at Five Mile Drive on Saturday mornings. Their team page was the first in the club to be filled in and approved for the new season.

Last week of the summer football camp
The final week of our summer holiday camp runs Monday 24 to Friday 28 August at Five Mile Drive, 9.30am to 3.30pm. Girls and boys aged 7 to 13, and you do not have to play for the club to come.

Youth Transformation Fund backs our next generation of coaches and referees
The Youth Transformation Fund has awarded Summertown Stars £6,000 towards skills development and mental health e-learning. The money will support the young players coming through the club as coaches and referees.

Fitball: players and parents getting fit together
Coach Matt and Coach Tennyson led a football-focused fitness circuit at Five Mile Drive this week, open to players and parents alike. It is a good way to build some fitness before the season starts, and it is completely free.

Being honest about it
If it goes wrong
Not every child settles, and not every season goes well. Here is what happens when it does not.
If your child is unhappy
Tell their coach, or email secretary@summertownstars.org. We would much rather know in October than find out in June. Wanting to change team is a normal request and not a difficult one.
If money is the problem
Email treasurer@summertownstars.org. Nobody misses out on playing for Summertown Stars because of money. Your coach is not told, and it makes no difference to selection, kit or anything else.
If they want to stop
That is allowed, and nothing is owed. We will ask why, because we would like to do better, but every question can be skipped and nobody is chased. If they are moving to another club we will release their FA registration, and sooner if you need it for a fixture.
If something worries you about an adult here
Contact our Welfare Officer at welfare@summertownstars.org. Small concerns are welcome. You do not need to be sure, and you do not need to have evidence. That is what the role is for.

There is no waiting list.
Register your child and they have somewhere to play that week. Everyone starts in a development session, whatever their experience, and it is proper coaching rather than a holding pen.
From there one of two things happens. A place comes up in a team, which it does regularly through the season. Or enough children of that age are training together that we start a new team around them.
